Reddit Question: Can you tell how you built it ?

@ thamag

Unfortunatly i can not get you a “how to do instruction” for building a submarine on a public forum in internet - this kind of detailed instructions can show up in clandestine submarine yards in the jungles of colombia where the drug runners build their transport vehicles. Being a “how to do instruction” on the pinwall of the bad guys is not convenient for me for obvious reasons.

To get a permit to build the 200 ton sub you see on my pages i had to make this commitment .
In fact i am part of the intediction efforts.

Having that said here is what i can tell you.

To get a basic insight on the construction technology you may want to visit the following pages:

And do the following google searches:

Material Cost | Total Project Cost

Actually “material costs” is one of the lower cost factors in such a project. What is expensive is the place in a shipyard and the cost of moving a 200 ton object over land to the water…

Further the cost of socializing and argumenting the project with authorities to the point where you get a construction permit.

Travel and living during the project, worker wages and handling, all this is by far more expensive than the materials.

All those costs depend heavyly on the “local situation” and can not be given as a global average figure that can be transfered to other countries and other ship-yard situations.

What matters is that we kept all those factos within the budget that was USD 70K…
